IS MY CHILD’S SLEEP NORMAL?
Every age brings its own sleep challenges
Every age and stage brings its own sleep difficulties. What is developmentally normal for a newborn is very different from what you would expect of a toddler or school-age child, and what feels like a crisis at 3am is often a recognised part of your child's development. Our consultants work with families at every stage.
Newborn (0–3 months): Newborns sleep in short cycles and wake frequently — this is biologically normal, even if it is exhausting. A consultation at this stage focuses on understanding your newborn's sleep patterns and building sustainable habits from the start.
Baby (4–12 months): The four-month mark is when many babies' sleep patterns shift significantly. Other common challenges include nap refusal, early morning waking, and difficulty settling without being held.
Toddler (1–3 years): Bedtime battles, night waking, early rising, and the transition from two naps to one are among the most common challenges at this stage.
Pre-school and school age (3–10 years): Older children can develop persistent sleep difficulties including difficulty settling, night fears, and coming into the parents' bed. It is never too late to improve sleep.
GETTING STARTED
Not sure where to begin?
There is a huge amount of conflicting sleep advice online, and it can be hard to know what is evidence-based and what is not. Methods that worked for previous generations are not always in line with current guidance, and what works for one child may be completely wrong for another.
Our consultants stay up to date with current best practice so that the support you receive is grounded in what actually works — not outdated methods, not generic advice, and not a rigid programme that does not account for your child's individual temperament and your family's circumstances.
Whether you have tried everything and nothing has worked, or you are not sure where to start, we will help you find a way forward.
COMMON CHALLENGES
Sleep difficulties rarely follow a simple pattern. Some children settle quickly with a consistent approach; others need more time, more reassurance, or a completely different method. We support families navigating:

Difficulty settling at bedtime
Long bedtime routines or needing a parent present

1 - We get to know your situation
Your consultant takes the time to understand your child’s current sleep patterns, your routine, your environment, and what you have already tried.
2 - We work through it together
Together you will explore what is driving the difficulty and why and develop a clear, practical approach you can put in place straight away.
3 - You leave with a plan
Depending on the package you choose, your consultation includes a bespoke written sleep plan tailored to your child or a structured conversation that gives you everything you need to move forward with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We work with families from birth. The type of support and the approach we recommend will vary significantly depending on your child's age - what is appropriate for a four-month-old is very different from what works for a two-year-old. Get in touch and we will advise on the right approach for your child's stage.
-
No. There is no single method we prescribe and we will never recommend an approach that does not feel right for you. We work with a wide range of techniques, from very gentle and gradual approaches through to more structured plans, depending on what suits your child and your family.
-
This varies depending on your child's age, the nature of the sleep difficulty, and the approach you choose. Some families see significant improvement within a few days; others need two to three weeks of consistent effort. A consultation will give you realistic expectations for your specific situation.
-
Yes. Room-sharing is a common situation and one we factor into the plan we build for your family. There are approaches that work well in shared rooms and we will tailor our recommendations accordingly.
-
A previous attempt that did not work does not mean the right approach does not exist for your child - it usually means the method was not the right fit, the timing was off, or consistency was difficult without support. A consultation gives you the chance to understand what happened and find something better suited to your family.
-
Yes. All sleep consultations take place via Zoom, making it convenient for families wherever they are in the world.
-
Yes. Follow-up support is included in Option 3, and can be added on to any package if you need it.
